REMARKS BY HIS EXCELLENCY, PROF. YEMI OSINBAJO, SAN, GCON, VICE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA AT THE GALA NIGHT IN ABAKALIKI, EBONYI STATE ON THE 8TH OF APRIL, 2022

It is such a great pleasure to be here again in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, the Salt of the Nation. This salt has been made much more savoury by the activities of my host and dear brother, Governor David Umahi, the builder of modern Ebonyi State; who it appears is determined to compete with the glitz and glamour of Dubai.

 

An hour ago, we walked down the President Muhammadu Buhari Light Tunnel located here at the Akanu Ibiam junction, and we walked through a dazzling avenue of lights to the mall; a mall that matches any mall anywhere in the world in grandeur and beauty.

 

And here we are at this architectural wonder, the Christian Ecumenical Centre. Congratulations, Your Excellency!

 

Earlier today, I was taken around for the commissioning of several projects:

  1. Abakaliki-Enugu Expressway (Ishieke)
  2. Ishieke-Mile 50 dualised Concrete Road
  3. Mammy-Timbre Shade Concrete Road
  4. New Government House Chapel
  5. Okposi-Uburu dualised Concrete Road
  6. St Joseph Twin Flyover Bridge, Onuofukuru
  7. Dr. Sam Egwu Twin Flyover Bridge, Ezzamgbo
  8. Margaret Umahi International Market
  9. Christian Ecumenical Centre
  10. The Shopping Mall.

 

Tomorrow, my day starts early with the commissioning of the King David University of Medical Sciences. And the Governor has ‘threatened’ that he could keep me here for one month commissioning 5 projects daily.

 

Since I have no desire to give up my job yet, I have told him that I will take up that challenge on another visit.

I would like to thank the government and the people of Ebonyi State for their hospitality and warmth. And my dear brother, His Excellency, Governor David Umahi, for his kindness and unfailing courtesies at all times.
