REMARKS BY HIS EXCELLENCY, PROF. YEMI OSINBAJO, SAN, GCON, VICE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA AT THE  A CONDOLENCE VISIT TO ALHAJI  DAHIRU MANGAL ON THE LOSS OF HIS MOTHER, HAJIYA MURJANATU MANGAL IN KATSINA ON THE 30TH OF JANUARY, 2022

PROTOCOLS

I’m here to join my brother to commiserate and condole over the death of his mother, Hajiya Murjanatu Mangal whom we all knew in her days to be a woman who not only served her family but served so many people in this community here, in Katsina State.  So many people; the poor, the vulnerable, people who need help, she was there for them.  She gave all; everything she had, she continued to contribute.

I’ve been told that since she died, there has been sadness everywhere and it is because of the kind of person that she was, a woman who served her community, served her people all through her life.

So, I know that my brother is a grown-up man, but the loss of his mother is a very deep wound and I know the way he feels, even if she had died in the next 10 years, he will feel the same way because he was very close to her.  They were so close and she was somebody who continued to support him and pray for him all through her life.

So, I want to join everybody, including President Muhammadu Buhari and the Government of Nigeria, to commiserate with my dear brother, Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, on the passing of his mother.

I pray that her soul will rest in peace and that everything you desire; all the things that she wanted to do, you will be able to do them, especially for the people of this community and the people of this country.

I pray that all will be well with you. I pray for everyone that no one will die young; that we will all live to our ripe old age before we die.  I pray for you my dear brother that God will comfort you and that when you remember her, it would be with joy.  I pray also for the entire State that all will be well with this State; that there will be peace, and there will be security; there will be joy.  I pray for the soul of our dear mother, who has now departed.

Thank you all very much.
