Kabiyesi, I join the people of Ijebuland, the government and people of Ogun State, and the citizens of our great nation in congratulating you on your 90th birthday and the much-deserved conferment of the second-highest national honour, Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger.
In nearly 70 years on the throne of our fathers, you have demonstrated, at the most crucial moments, forthrightness, clarity of vision, and uncommon courage. In the darkness of military oppression, your palace was a lighthouse for the struggle for democracy. Your fearlessness in the face of the terror of the time gave strength to what then seemed a fruitless cause. Time and time again, you have shown that the highest calling of privilege is responsibility.
Your Majesty, I pray that you will spend many more years on the throne in peace, joy, and good health. As your days, so shall your strength, wisdom, and favour with the Almighty God.
