VP Osinbajo Represents Nigeria At Guinea’s Hydro Power Plant Commissioning Ahead Of Its 57th Independence Anniversary

VICE PRESIDENT OSINBAJO REPRESENTS NIGERIA AT GUINEA’S HYDRO POWER PLANT COMMISSIONING AHEAD OF ITS 57th INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY

On the invitation of the government of Guinea, Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, today joined other West African leaders to commission a new 240 MW Hydro-power plant in Kaleta, serving mainly the people of Conakry, the nation’s capital city.

The commissioning is part of the activities marking Guinea’s 57th Independence anniversary coming up later this week on October 2.

The event was witnessed by the Presidents of Congo and Niger, Sassou Nguesso Denis, and Mohamadou Issoufou, respectively alongside, Nigeria’s Vice President who represented President Muhammadu Buhari. There were also representatives from the governments of China, France and the UAE among other.

Speaking at the event, the Vice President commended the vision of the Guinean President, Prof Alpha Conde, noting that the commissioning of the power plant is a “monumental accomplishment” in a short time, saying “it shows what can be done with commitment and vision.”

He disclosed that by the first quarter of next year, the Federal Government of Nigeria plans to distribute 6000 MW as well.

The Vice President has since returned to Abuja tonight.
