GOVERNMENT INTERVENTIONS WILL ALWAYS FAVOUR SMALL BUSINESSES SAYS VP OSINBAJO

REMARKS BY THE VICE PRESIDENT, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, HIS EXCELLENCY, PROF. YEMI OSINBAJO, SAN, AT THE LAUNCH OF THE NATIONWIDE MSME CLINIC IN OSOGBO, OSUN STATE ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2017.

I am not going to speak much at all, only to say that I bring very warm greetings from President Muhammadu Buhari; President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We are here to see for ourselves the worth of the Small and Medium Scale Enterprises Businesses because, we believe that Small and Medium Scale Businesses are the engine of growth for Nigeria, they are the engine of growth for the economy.

We have seen for ourselves, I have seen how people are making Plaques, Clothes, Honey, Shea Butter, Furniture, how people are fabricating Equipment, fabricating Machines. I have seen the very hard work and resourcefulness of the people of the State of Osun.

I want to congratulate you because, this State is the engine of agro-allied industry and manufacturing in Nigeria, congratulations!

There is sure job potential here from what we have seen today. We have brought here today what we call the “Market Money”; this is our Micro-Credit Loans and we’re giving out N50,000 of such Micro-Credit loans.

We’re also establishing here a “One-Stop Shop” so, I have brought with me the Directors of NAFDAC, SON, BOI (Bank of Industry) and the Corporate Affairs Commission. All of them are here with me, they want to listen to the small business man and they are also here to address other complaints you might have; from now on you are going to have an office in Osun State that is, all these organizations in one place, so that whatever the needs of the small business man can be attended to in one place, without any problems at all.

So I want everybody who is interested in doing business, especially small business, to be reassured of government interventions. The State Government is also astutely working with us, to ensure that you get all you need to do your business well.
I am confident that we can work together and build a Nigeria that is truly great.

This country belongs to every one of us and in this country we can all enjoy, if we spend our resources well. If we use our resources well, we can all prosper, there’s enough to go round in this country. That is why we are very confident, the government under President Muhammadu Buhari, we are very confident that we will take this country from where we are today to true greatness; I am confident of that. It is by making sure that money is not spent anyhow, by making sure that government resources are spent for the people who need them.

That is how we can make this country great, when we have a government and people who are not stealing the money of the government. When I got here to Osun State, I looked around, I have seen the roads that are being built, I have seen the bypass that is being built, the Schools that are being built, the Poultry that are being done and all I can say is, I thank the Almighty God that we have a person like Rauf Aregbesola as Governor of this State at this time.

Let me say very confidently, that all of us in the APC, have worked very hard, to get to where we are and we know that we owe everything to the common man; the man on the street.

That is why we are making sure that even the poorest in our midst will be uplifted. We will support everybody that we can support with the resources that we have. I pray for everybody in this State in particular, this is a very special State. We are the Pride of the Black-man, “awa gangan ni omoluabi, ilę omoluabi lawa”.

“Olorun a dę se wa lomoluabi kalę; aa ki se olè nibi”. We are good people here, we work and we work well, that is why we are omoluabi. We too have seen that when we work, it will be well with us. The Lord will bless us all with every good thing. Before I leave, I implore us to give some rounds of kudos to the Governor also another round of kudos for ourselves in the State of Osun.
